I have a few paintings made from the scraps of other paintings, pieces I would have otherwise discarded. This painting was originally a dark one and seemed much too dreary. When I tore it into pieces, these tiny fragments of lightness and brightness showed up.

I guided the edges with silver modelling paint to increase the brightness, then glued them onto another piece of paper that had some acrylic paint washes and spatters on it. I call it bright morning because light comes after the dark every day. Nothing is dark forever.
