Where I live in Victoria, there is a hotel with a koi pond extending both inside and outside of the building. I have taken a lot of pictures of the golden fish swimming about in the water.

For this painting, I wanted to capture the peacefulness that koi seem to elicit in me. Although the fish are not as many-coloured in real life as they are depicted here, I painted them how I thought they would be if we had eyes to see all the sights they had seen.
