five obstacles in my path

It was 2006 and there were five obstacles in my path. I needed to figure out what to do with a degree, a move, a financial decision, a friendship, and a mental health struggle.

I painted the background in washes of acrylic paint and then took a palette knife and very quickly created pillars, which seemed to take on a life of their own with a few extra daubs of paint here and there.

The red figures resemble people, which makes sense if I think about how it was my relationship to the obstacles that was the actual problem. They also seem to have the shape of wisdom and they are journeying to somewhere, which is what I needed to claim also.
