A few years ago, there was a season of devastating fires in the Okanagan region of BC. The smoke drifted and spread across metro-Vancouver for about a month (where I was living at the time). The air was thick with the particulate coming from hundreds of kilometres away. I lived on the couch for a few weeks with my asthma puffer and some books.

A fire can warm, terrify, cleanse, destroy, brighten, deepen….and its effects can be widespread. Fires make me think of how our actions influence others and how they, in turn, influence us. No one is an island when it comes to fire or anything else.
