The first colour to go on this painting was blue (of course) and for a long while it was the only colour. A white shape (right lower side) spoke to me of a person walking. There is also a larger shadow figure above it.

This reminded me of “hitting the road” or taking a gap year to explore the world. That’s when the dotted yellow road markers came into the painting.

It was a simple painting for a simple idea. While travelling is one of my greatest joys, travelling alone can have its shadow side. Still, the joys of discovery and freedom offset any of the troubles.
